ETM’s yearlong professional development offerings have continued to grow in scope and interest.  For 2015-2016, ETM has chosen 10 Digital Learning Fellows to participate in courses regarding active learning and efforts to *untether* from the podium through the use of mobile technologies.  Using the *beautiful* question “What does an ideal classroom environment look like, and what can we do to reach that ideal,” the project aims to understand how the ubiquity of mobile devices can support active learning strategies. For years, English professor Kim Segall has used WordPress as a conduit for supporting the growth of her students during study abroad programs in Spain/Morocco and South Africa.  Designed to provide a space for reflection on experience-based learning, the sites for both study abroad programs provide not only a space for current student reflection, but an opportunity to engage the artifacts of former students as a digital living history.

Christina Longcor, a Career Counselor at the Center for Career and Calling and an Instructor in the School of Business, Government and Economics, wanted to make her two Summer 2015 courses more accessible to students whose summers would take them throughout Seattle and beyond.  Being courses designed around internships, Christina redesigned her approach to the courses and held both entirely online, supported by SPU’s use of the Blackboard LMS.
